Promising a strong and reliable connection no matter where you are and what device you are on, Wi-Fi extenders offer that extended coverage you need even when you are away from the router.

When you decide to set up your NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender, there will a couple of details that you will need to have in order to complete the configuration. These include your network’s password and details of your network. Since NETGEAR’s Wi-Fi extenders are known to increase the range in which your connections work by granting coverage in the farthest corners of your home or office, you won’t have to worry about dropping signals anymore.

Here’s an easy guide on how you can set up your NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender using two different methods.

With an Ethernet Cable:

  1. Begin by connecting your NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender to your computer via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Go to the user web interface of your NETGEAR Wi-Fi Extender using http://myWiFiext.net.
  3. In order to log in, you will be asked to enter the default credentials. They are:
  • Username: admin
  • Password: password
  1. After successfully logging in, click on Setup and then, click on Wireless Settings.
  2. Look at the value of the network Key (password) from the Security options.
  3. You need to ensure that the password matches the password of your access point.
  4. Once it does, select Apply.
  5. The last step involves reconnecting all your Wi-Fi devices to your Wi-Fi extender either manually or by using the WPS button.

Without an Ethernet Cable

  1. Start by resetting your Wi-Fi Extender to its default settings. You can do so by pressing and holding the Factory Settings button on the back or on the side panel of your extender for 7 seconds.
  2. Next, connect your NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender via Wi-Fi.
  3. Using http://myWiFiext.net, log in to your NETGEAR Wi-Fi Extender’s user interface.
  4. You will be asked to put in the following default credentials.
  • Username: admin
  • Password: password
  1. Instead of using your WPS when reconnecting your Access Point, let the setup wizard walk you through the process to connect you to the Access point.
  2. Once done, reconnect your Wi-Fi devices to the Wi-Fi extender using either a manual connection or the WPS button.
