Only in the second quarter of the year 2017, Apple sold 50.76 million iPhones worldwide.
If you are one of these people who recently got their hands on the iPhone, we have some good news!
Mario is now coming into your iPhone! Surprising, right? Well, your favorite game will now be a part of iOS – Thanks to the partnership between Apple and Nintendo.
We have often seen debates about Apple vs Nintendo, but this is the first time ever that the collaboration of these two super names is going to bring excitement and fun to the lives of all iPhone/iPad owners who have their wireless routers available.
With the famous character and the familiar theme, the game will keep up with all the reasons it has been popular for. However, as the name suggests, ‘Super Mario Run’ is a running game. It’s more like ‘Temple Run’ or ‘Subway Surfers’ where Mario will be on a constant run.
Nintendo – unlike its norm – has only used the ‘touch’ control to play the entire game. In short, your only control will be a ‘tap.’ You tap to jump to collect coins and avoid enemies and obstacles to reach the final flag.
The longer you tap, the longer jump you can enjoy. Keep going and you can collect more coins and score higher. Once you’ve configured your router login, you can complete the level by collecting the flag pole at the end.
But this isn’t all. The developer, Shigeru Miyamoto, has ensured there’s much more to this game.
Read on if you have more questions popping in your head about the Apple vs Nintendo partnership over Super Mario Run.
Apple vs Nintendo and Why iOS Is an Exclusive Platform
While Nintendo has its own platform for gaming, this time they have gone off board launching Super Mario Run exclusively with iPhone/iPad. But rumor has it that they’ll eventually extend the platform to Android too.
The main purpose to target iPhone/iPad was to initially reach the largest possible audience first. This saves them from investing their resources to all the extra work required for launching the game to multiple platforms at a time.
Their main focus at the launch is to ensure that the development of the game is on point. Once that aim is achieved, the platform is extended naturally. Reports, however, also claim that the availability of Super Mario Run to Android has been delayed because of some security concerns for now.
The Gaming Experience and Controls
As mentioned earlier, there’s only one control you need to play the entire game: tap! You tap on the screen to jump and tap for longer to jump higher as required.
Mario will face its old enemies and other obstacles in the traditional Mario. But jumping through everything is all that will take you to the flag.
The gaming experience will speak quality for itself. That’s exactly what the collaboration between Apple and Nintendo is all about!
What Will This Partnership Offer Gamers
To save Nintendo from following the example of Sega and completely shutting off their hardware business, Apple has given ample of freedom to Nintendo so it can experiment and give out its best without relying on NX alone.
Nintendo has the room to go beyond NX and innovate the best gaming experience for all iOS users. The alliance between the two big names is definitely going to be a great thing for gamers in the long run. No more Apple vs Nintendo – they are now a team for the gaming world.
If that sounds amazing, there’s something more you can look forward to. If you have an Apple Watch, then watch out for Pokémon Go to show up soon!
